The Magpie Nest

The Magpie Nest is a program of the Collingwood Community Foundation, born from a partnership between Melbourne Project 614 (The Salvation Army) and the Collingwood Football Club Foundation. It has grown into one of Melbourne's most impactful homelessness organisations, combining the reach of a football club with the heart of a community services provider.

The Waislitz Foundation is proud to give directly to the Magpie Nest, backing a program that meets people where they are and walks alongside them toward stability, dignity and belonging.

Since 2011, the Foundation has contributed over $1 million to the Collingwood Football Club Foundation and the Magpie Nest, including direct donations and fundraising functions held in support of the club.

Every Day

What the Magpie Nest Does

The Café

Breakfast, lunch and dinner, every day. Over 10,000 free meals served each month to Melbourne's most vulnerable, alongside clothing, shower facilities, and a warm space where everyone is welcomed without judgement.

Safe Housing

45 homes across Melbourne housing 124 people who were sleeping rough, couch surfing, or living unsafely. Stable tenancies at reduced rent, with dedicated support for women and children escaping domestic violence.

Wrap-Around Support

Case management, mental health referrals, addiction support, legal assistance and employment pathways. Over 300 women connected to support services annually. The Magpie Nest doesn't just provide shelter. It provides the conditions to rebuild.
